On 20 July 2026, the Supreme Court dismissed the Fundamental Rights Petition (SC/FR/15/2026) challenging the Ministry of Health Circular on the Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC) and provisions relating to the recognition of transgender persons under the Women Empowerment Act, 2024.
