The Bangkok Pride Festival 2024 marked a major milestone as Thailand became the first country in Southeast Asia to legalize same-sex marriage. The grand celebration featured the Bangkok Pride Parade on June 1st along Rama 1 Road, attracting over 200,000 attendees and spectators. Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin joined the parade, making history as the first Prime Minister to participate.
The event reinforced Thailand’s positioning as a top LGBTQ+ tourist destination and celebrated the success of the equal marriage law set to take effect by the end of 2024. Siam Piwat Group and its properties like Siam Paragon, Siam Center, and ICONSIAM hosted various Pride-themed activities throughout June.
Additionally, Youth Voices Count (YVC), Inc with IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students Association) joined the parade named LOVE for DIGNITY which definition of love that are open for participants to interpret, express, imagine and present their own definitions of love for use.
